Configurations

Download rome total war. Before being able to use the Yabause Sega Saturn emulator, there are certain configurations that need to be set to ensure that all goes well.

Configure the Emulator.

While this section may seem complicated, there are only 3 settings that you will need to bother with.

The first one is the Disk Type. This will allow you to decide what type of game the Sega Saturn emulator will play. If you have the game on a CD, simply choose the “CD” option and browse to the appropriate Drive Letter. If you have a ROM (which is common) simply choose “Image”.

The second setting to look out for is the CUE/ISO file. This will allow you to browse to the Image/ROM of the game you wish to play and start it.

Finally, and most importantly is the BIOS ROM file. The emulator will be as good as a bricked console if you do not have a BIOS file to run it with. Thankfully these can easily be found with a basic Google search.

Configure the Video.

Most likely the most used section after the above, the video configuration offers various settings to optimize the gameplay depending on the device used. The first option is the Video Core Settings. Among the selections available are the OpenGL Video Interface and the Software Video Interface, with the former offering the best performance.

The “Other Settings” section is however the one that will interest you, with the option of enabling the Auto Frame-skipping, going to Fullscreen on start-up or simply changing the screen size. The options for the latter include default resolutions like 640×480, 720×480, 720×576, 800×600 and 848×480, as well as the possibility of setting a custom resolution.

Configure the Sound.

This configuration option is rather basic, with the only options available being changing the sound core settings used (although the Direct Sound Interface is the only on you’ll need) and the possibility of changing the volume of the emulator.

Controller Selection and Configuration.

In this section you can configure you keyboard/joystick settings. To do this, simply left click the command in the selection window, and hit the corresponding or preferred button on the controller/gamepad or on the keyboard. It is good to note that commands can be assigned to various buttons so that players can easily switch between their controller and keyboard on the Sega Saturn emulator.
